A story can contain all the right pieces and still leave the reader disconnected. A character’s motivation may be present but too faint. A relationship may move forward before the emotional foundation is strong enough. A compelling detail may appear once, then disappear before it becomes meaningful.
My work is to find those disconnects, trace what is causing them, and explain them in a way that gives you a clear path forward—without taking the story out of your hands. I’m not going to rewrite your story or push it in a different direction that you don’t want. I’ll ask questions, and you decide from there.
About Me, Aisha
I am an educator and developmental story analyst with more than thirteen years of experience teaching English, literature, writing, and critical analysis across international classrooms. My work has always centered on the same skill: noticing where meaning breaks down, asking why, and helping someone see a clearer way through.
I bring that same care to fiction. I love books and helping people tell their stories one way or another. I pay attention to what the story is trying to become, how its parts support or undermine one another, and what a reader may understand differently from what the writer intended.
A Note About My Feedback
My feedback is honest, specific, and sometimes very direct.
Inline comments capture my genuine response as I read. If a moment is confusing, a character’s behavior feels unsupported, a relationship moves too quickly, or a detail contradicts something established earlier, I will point it out. I will also identify the moments that are working and explain why they are effective.
These comments are never intended to insult the writer or tear apart the story. They are there to uncover disconnects that can be difficult to see when you are deeply familiar with your own manuscript.
I critique the story on the page—not your ability, intelligence, or potential as a writer. You may not agree with every observation, and you are never obligated to use every suggestion. My responsibility is to show you where the reader’s experience may differ from what you intended, explain why, and give you useful information for revision.
How I Read Your Story
I read first as a reader: open to the story, paying attention to what I feel, believe, question, anticipate, and remember. Then I step back and examine why the story created that experience. Sometimes, this happens simultaneously for me. It’s just how I read naturally.
I look beyond whether I liked a scene or character. I follow the connections between:
Character motivation, behavior, and emotional development
Plot events, cause and effect, and narrative logic
Romantic or relational chemistry, tension, and progression
·Backstory, worldbuilding, themes, and the details meant to support them
Pacing, repetition, unresolved questions, and moments where the story loses momentum
What the manuscript appears to intend and what a reader is actually likely to receive
I do not give vague notes such as “this part did not work” and leave you there. I identify the moment, explain the reader experience, connect it to the larger story, and offer practical possibilities for strengthening it. You decide what belongs in your book.
What I Do Not Do
This service is intentionally focused. I do not provide:
Line editing, copyediting, proofreading, or a grammar correction pass
Rewriting scenes, ghostwriting, or making changes (I only make suggestions) directly to your manuscript
Fact-checking, sensitivity reading, or legal review
Guaranteed publication, representation, sales, or a positive review
Unlimited revisions, ongoing coaching, or unlimited messages after delivery
I may point out repeated wording, distracting errors, or sentences that interrupt the reading experience, but I am not reviewing every line for grammar or style.

I welcome historical fiction (one of my favorite genres), but my feedback focuses on story development, character behavior, narrative logic, reader experience, and how naturally the historical setting supports the story. Historical research, accuracy verification, and specialized fact-checking are not included. I'll check random facts to see if they align with the story.
Genre alone does not determine whether a project is a good fit. I review the manuscript’s premise, sample chapters, content, and the kind of feedback requested before accepting it.

Pricing begins at $250 for up to 15,000 words. Longer sections are priced according to word count, complexity, and the number of story elements being examined. Projects over 45,000 words may be better suited to a full developmental story analysis.
Every manuscript is different
The listed rates are starting points. Your final quote is based on word count, manuscript condition, complexity, requested focus, and turnaround time.
Manuscripts that are heavily underdeveloped will require more analysis and will be priced accordingly. You will receive the full scope, price, and delivery date before booking.
This service is for writers who want thoughtful, specific, honest feedback and who are willing to consider what the story needs, even when the answer is not a quick fix.
It may not be the right fit if you want praise without critique, someone to rewrite the book for you, or a final proofread before publication.
I respect the work it takes to write a manuscript. I will not be cruel, vague, or dismissive. I will also not soften meaningful problems until the feedback is no longer useful. The goal is not to make your story sound like mine. The goal is to help your story become more fully itself.
I will also tell you if I don’t think it’s the right fit. Not everything goes as planned and that’s ok.

How It Works
1. Submit an inquiry. Share your genre, word count, current stage, desired timeline, and the questions you most want answered.
2. Send a sample. I will review and work on the first three chapters before accepting a project. This confirms fit, scope, and the appropriate service level for us both.
3. Receive your proposal. If you're unsure, I'll provide the recommended service, exact deliverables, price, and delivery date. A 50% non-refundable deposit reserves your place; the remaining balance is due before final feedback is released.
4. I read and analyze. I read the manuscript closely, track patterns and questions, and build feedback around both your goals and the reader experience.
5. Receive your feedback. Your report and annotated manuscript are delivered electronically. Any included follow-up must be done within 14 days.
